Majestic: Electronic Arts
Focus: Conspiracy Theory
An episodic online entertainment experience set against the backdrop of a grand and sinister governmental conspiracy. Played in real-time, Majestic was highly personalized and took advantage of everyday communication devices such as Web pages, e-mails, faxes, voicemails and chats to create the game environment. Majestic suffered an untimely death in the wake of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
The TIA Act: US Government
Focus: Counter-Terrorism
After 9/11 DARPA created the Total Information Awareness program to R&D technologies to detect terrorist groups planning attacks against the US citizens, anywhere in the world. For political reasons, Congress ended funding TIA by passing HR 2658 in 2003, a bill yet to be signed by the President. Nobody knows whether TIA is truly dead. Besides, the provision eliminating funds for TIA doesn't apply to counterterrorism in relation to foreign intelligence. And what's really cool is that R&D is now supported under a classified "black budget" with zero public accountability.
The Nano R&D Act: US Government
Focus: Economic Growth
In 2003 the US government authorized nearly $4 billion for R&D into nanotech, making it the highest priority funded science and technology effort since the space race. Nearly every Fortune 500 company involved in manufacturing is already flirting with nanotech. The idea behind the effort is pretty simple... the US economy will grow bigger if America's scientists and engineers focus on things that are smaller. The National Science Foundation is betting that nanotech applications will be worth more than $1 trillion to the global economy within just a decade. Research priorities are TBD.
The Razor's Edge: Doubleday
Focus: Personal Enlightenment
A not so middle-class white boy journey of self-discovery written by W. Somerset Maugham, starring Larry Darrell, a young American in search of truth. His spiritual odyssey involves some of Maugham's most brilliant characters - his fiancé Isabel whose choice between love and wealth have lifelong repercussions, and Elliott Templeton, her uncle, a classic expatriate American snob. Maugham himself wanders in and out of the story, to observe his characters struggling with their fates.

HOOK

Here's the 20 second elevator pitch:

Picture if you will, a pervasive multi-modal action adventure RPG about me. You play a not-so supportive role. The plot deals with stuff like love gone bad, political conspiracy, and spiritual quests for enlightenment infused with a disturbingly co-opted and corrupted Eastern mysticism.

Think of it as a foul-mouthed and impressively self-absorbed version of "Unfaithful" meets "Majestic" meets "The TIA Act" meets "The Nano R&D Act" meets "The Razor's Edge."

Mix in anywhere anytime access to all this madness through my Blog, a GPS phone game, and a PC-based 3D client and you start to glimpse the bigger picture. Don't worry, I'll keep you "posted"...
